Connecting a custom domain

Add the domain you own and we show you every DNS record to add at your provider. Add a root domain like example.com and we set up www for you too, and SSL is provisioned automatically.

  1. Add the domain in the panel - the records to copy appear on the Domains page.
  2. Point www: add a CNAME record, name "www", value as shown.
  3. Point the root domain: add an ALIAS record (some providers call it ANAME or CNAME flattening), name "@", same value. Delete any existing A record on "@" first - a parking page usually leaves one behind.
  4. Add every TXT record shown - two per hostname. Never delete them later: they are checked again each time your SSL certificate renews.
  5. Click Verify. Verification usually finishes in minutes; the SSL certificate can take up to 15 minutes more. The page keeps re-checking on its own.

A subdomain like shop.example.com needs only the one CNAME record. DNS changes can take up to 24–48 hours; Verify re-checks automatically every few minutes and we email you when the domain is live.

If your DNS is hosted on Cloudflare, set the root record to Proxied (orange cloud) and www plus every TXT record to DNS only (grey cloud) — see Hosting your DNS on Cloudflare.

If your root domain stays pending with the ALIAS in place, we keep retrying for 24 hours. You don't have to wait: hosting your DNS on Cloudflare fixes it in about 15 minutes (see the next topic), and support is there if you'd rather we do it with you.

The error says your domain is pointing the wrong way, or mentions CNAME: the root domain is pointing at IP addresses. Remove the A record on "@" and use ALIAS instead.

Verified, but SSL is stuck for 30 minutes or more: compare the TXT values at your DNS provider with the ones on the Domains page - that page always shows the values we currently expect.

Left unfinished for 7 days, a setup is dropped by the certificate provider and the Domains page says the connection expired. Click Verify to set it up again - the TXT values change, so update them at your DNS provider.

If your certificate later fails to renew — usually because a TXT record was deleted — we email you and the Domains page shows the records to restore; your store keeps working until the old certificate expires.

Only have www (or only the root) connected? The Domains page offers to add the missing half; the one you add becomes your store address once it verifies.

Hosting your DNS on Cloudflare

A root domain like example.com is the one part of a custom domain that can fail through no fault of yours. Most providers (Hostinger, GoDaddy, Namecheap) can only point a root domain by flattening it into IP addresses, and our certificate provider sometimes refuses a root it cannot see pointing at us by name. Hosting your DNS on Cloudflare — free, about 15 minutes — is the reliable fix, and you can do it on day one instead of waiting.

  1. Go to cloudflare.com, create a free account, click Add a site, enter your domain and choose the Free plan.
  2. Cloudflare lists the records it found at your current provider. Delete anything it imported for @ (the root) and www — old A, ALIAS or parking records. Keep MX and other email records.
  3. Under DNS → Records, add every record from your Domains page. Set the root record — @, a CNAME to the value shown — to Proxied (the orange cloud). Set www and every TXT record to DNS only (the grey cloud). Cloudflare accepts a CNAME on the root, so there is no ALIAS here.
  4. At your registrar (Hostinger: Domains → your domain → DNS / Nameservers → Change nameservers), replace both nameservers with the two Cloudflare shows you. Cloudflare emails you when the site is active — usually within an hour, occasionally up to 24.
  5. Back on the Domains page, click Verify. The certificate follows within about 15 minutes.

How the records look in Cloudflare once they are right — Name is what you type, and Cloudflare shows @ as your full domain once saved:

NameTypeContentProxy status
@CNAMEstorecrafto.comProxied (orange cloud)
wwwCNAMEstorecrafto.comDNS only (grey cloud)
_acme-challengeTXTvalue from the Domains pageDNS only
_acme-challenge.wwwTXTvalue from the Domains pageDNS only
_cf-custom-hostnameTXTvalue from the Domains pageDNS only
_cf-custom-hostname.wwwTXTvalue from the Domains pageDNS only

Only the root record is Proxied. A proxied www or TXT record hides the record from our certificate provider and verification fails. The warning triangle Cloudflare shows beside the DNS-only www row only says the record is not proxied — ignore it.

Already on Cloudflare and stuck? Compare each record against the table, Proxy status included, then click Verify. Once the domain is live, leave every record exactly as it is: the TXT records are checked again each time the certificate renews.

Getting found on Google and Bing

Once your domain is live, claim it in Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools so you can see how your store appears in search and submit your product list. On the SEO page, under Search engines, paste the verification code each tool gives you (choose the "HTML tag" method and copy only the long code, not the whole tag), save, then click Verify in the tool. Then submit your sitemap: it is always at https://your-domain/sitemap.xml and updates itself whenever you change products. Your store's robots file allows every product and collection page and keeps cart, checkout and search results out of the index. AI assistants (ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity) may read your store so they can recommend your products; turn this off in the same card if you prefer. Results usually take a few days to a few weeks. Under Search engines you can also state your return window in days; together with your default delivery rate it lets Google show shipping and returns on your product listings. Whenever you change a product, collection or page we tell Bing and other search engines straight away, so updates appear in search within hours instead of weeks.

Your SEO score and tools

The SEO page scores your store out of 100 on the things that decide whether shoppers can find you. Every line says what is missing and links to the screen that fixes it, so work down from the top. 80 or more is good, 50 to 79 needs work, under 50 is poor. The score only counts what applies to you: a store with nothing published yet is not marked down on product checks, and a plan without custom domains is not marked down for not having one. Press Recheck after making changes.

The checks are grouped. Foundation is your own domain plus your Google and Bing accounts. Identity is your homepage title and description, share image, logo, browser-tab icon, social links and return window. Products is whether each published product has a search description, a photo, a collection, and a title no other product shares. Content is your collection descriptions and your four policy pages. Speed is Google's own verdict, once you run the speed test.

A store in coming-soon mode, or one that is not open, gets no score: every address serves the countdown page, so there is nothing for a search engine to read yet. Open the store and the score appears.

Homepage title and description are set on this page. They are what a shopper reads in the search results before they ever reach you - left blank, Google shows only your store name. Keep the title under 70 characters and the description under 160; longer is cut off. The share image is the picture shown when someone posts your store link on WhatsApp or Facebook.

Redirects are made for you. Rename a product or collection and its old web address keeps working, so an old link, a saved search result or a running ad lands on the new page instead of an error. They are listed here; delete one only if you want that old address to stop working.

The speed test asks Google to measure your storefront and returns its own speed and SEO numbers plus what it thinks you should fix. It can be run once every ten minutes. Page speed is mostly ours to improve rather than yours, so treat that number as information; the search findings in the same result are worth acting on.

Your score is also saved each night so our team can spot stores that are struggling to be found.

Shipping zones & rates

The default zone applies to every country you ship to. Custom zones override it for specific cities: customers in those cities see only that zone's rates, and a city can belong to just one custom zone.

Tip: a zone with no rates blocks checkout for those cities - always add at least one rate.

Delivery estimate section

The Delivery estimate section shows shoppers a short list of areas with how long delivery takes to each and, if you like, what it costs. It can also carry a City lookup box where a shopper types their city to see their own delivery time.

  1. In the theme editor, click Add section, open Trust and pick Delivery estimate.
  2. A new one starts with three sample rows. Open a row on the section's Content tab to change its area, delivery time and cost.
  3. Add rows up to twelve, reorder them, or remove the ones you don't need.

Rows are plain text, so write them the way your shoppers talk - "Karachi" with "Next day", or "Rest of Pakistan" with "3 to 5 working days". Cost is optional; leave it empty to show only the time.

Use my shipping zones, under the rows on the Content tab, adds a row for every shipping option in every zone - the zone's name with the option's name, its price, and the zone's delivery time. A zone with a single option gets one row named after the zone. Rows already in the list are skipped. Edit anything after - the rows are yours, and changing a zone later does not change them.

The City lookup box, on the Style tab, lets shoppers type a city. It uses the cities on your shipping zones, so it needs zones with cities; a city that matches nothing shows your Fallback text. Use the Note line for anything else worth knowing, such as an order cut-off time or that you take cash on delivery.

The section stays hidden on your store until it has at least one row or one shipping zone with a delivery time.

Tip: give each shipping zone a delivery time first (Settings, then Shipping) - then Use my shipping zones fills the whole list in one click.

What checkout asks buyers for

Settings, then Checkout. There is one row per product type with a Phone switch and an Address switch, and the row that applies is the one matching what the shopper has in their basket. A basket holding several kinds asks for whatever any of them needs.

Physical is fixed: those orders ship, so an address is always collected and that switch cannot be turned off. Your own type labels and bundles count as Physical, so they collect one too.

For the types where nothing ships - Booking, Event, Rental, Service and Digital - it is your call. Switch Address on when you genuinely need one: a salon that comes to the customer, equipment you drop off. Left off, checkout never shows the address form at all and only asks for a name, an email address and a phone number.

Phone starts on for every type. Switch it off - for a download, say - and the field is still offered but the buyer can leave it empty.

Tip: the same page carries Ask buyers to confirm their order - see Asking buyers to confirm their order.

How stock appears to shoppers

Controls how product stock shows on your storefront. Many stores hide exact counts for marketing reasons and show only in-stock or sold-out. Out-of-stock items always show as sold out, whichever option you choose.

Selling in another currency

Your store can sell in dirhams, dollars, pounds, riyals or euros instead of rupees. Changing the currency converts every price once - products, variants, bundles, delivery rates, discount codes, cart rewards and open carts - and from then on everything is stored, shown and worked out in the new currency. Available on every plan.

  1. Go to Settings, then General, and find Store currency. Only the store owner can change it.
  2. Click Change currency and pick the new one.
  3. Enter how many rupees one unit is worth, for example 1 AED = Rs 67.
  4. Prices round to whole units by default, so AED 43.27 becomes AED 43. Tick Keep exact cents to keep the decimals instead.
  5. Check the preview: how many prices change, ten before-and-after examples, and any amount that would round to zero or grow too large. Those block the change until you keep exact cents or fix the amounts - archived products' prices that would round to zero are set to 0 instead.
  6. Type CONVERT and confirm.

After converting:

  • PayFast and Easypaisa only take rupees, so a buyer paying with them is charged your total times your rate, in whole rupees, and checkout shows them that rupee amount first. Keep the rate current with Update rate - it changes no prices.
  • Cash on delivery and bank transfer are paid in your store currency.
  • Old orders keep the currency they were placed in, and so do their emails and packing slips.
  • Analytics adds up orders in your current currency only, and says how many older ones it left out.
  • Courier bookings (TCS, Leopards and the others) need a rupee order when the rider collects cash. Book those parcels with the courier yourself and add the tracking number.

Known limits: percentage discounts, tax, spend-and-save rewards and delivery maths still round to whole units. Prices typed into theme or homepage text, like "Rs 1,500", are not converted - the preview counts them so you can edit them. The recovered-sales figure for abandoned carts keeps its old amounts. Converting back rounds again, so AED 43 returns as Rs 2,881, not the original Rs 2,899.

Product variants

Add options like size or colour to create variants. Each combination is a sellable variant with its own price, and stock is tracked per variant when inventory tracking is on.

Tip: turning variants off keeps your options saved, so you can switch back without re-entering them.

Image storage

Every image across your products and theme lives in the media library and counts toward your plan's storage. When you get close to the limit, delete images you no longer use or upgrade for more room.

Your mobile number

A verified mobile number lets us reach you about your account and recover access. It is not a sign-in step - your authenticator app stays your second factor.

The store owner's email and mobile number both have to be confirmed before the dashboard opens. If either is ever unconfirmed, the dashboard asks the owner to confirm it first - your store stays open to shoppers the whole time. To switch to a new number, use Change number in Account, then Security: your current number stays on file until the new one is confirmed with its code. The owner's number can be changed but not removed.

Signed-in devices

Account, then Devices, lists every browser your account is signed in on - the device, its IP address, when it signed in and when it was last used. The one you are reading this on is marked This device.

Sign out beside a device takes effect immediately: the next thing that browser tries to do is refused and it lands back on the sign-in screen. Sign out all other devices does the same for everything except the one you are on.

Changing your password signs every other device out on its own, so you do not have to come here first.

Tip: if you see a device you do not recognise, sign it out and change your password.

Your store details

Settings, then General, on the Store tab.

Store name is what appears on your storefront, your emails and your invoices. Store URL is your storecrafto.com address and cannot be changed after registration - point your own domain at the store instead, see Connecting a custom domain.

Emails your customers receive - order confirmations, delivery updates, password resets - show your store name as the sender and come from an address on our sending domain. When a customer replies, the reply lands in the store owner's inbox, so answer it from your normal email.

Stock display decides how much stock information shoppers see - see How stock appears to shoppers.

Store country is where you sell from - see Selling from another country.

Account details underneath is read-only: your account status, the plan you are on, and the theme currently applied. Below that you can switch on new-order notifications for the device you are reading this on, so your phone or laptop pings the moment an order comes in.

Selling from another country

Settings, then General, on the Store tab.

Store country is where your store sells from. It sets the country shoppers see pre-selected at checkout, the country your product listings tell Google you ship to, and the country your default delivery zone covers.

Changing it adds the new country to your default delivery zone and drops the old one when no city zone still uses it. City zones are never deleted for you - remove or edit them under Shipping.

Payments do not change: PayFast and Easypaisa still charge in rupees, cash on delivery and bank transfer charge whatever currency your store sells in - see Selling in another currency. Courier booking works for Pakistani addresses only; orders elsewhere are fulfilled by hand with a tracking link.

WhatsApp order updates reach any country. Shoppers outside Pakistan enter their number with the country code, or in local form and the country code is added for them.

Charging tax

Settings, then Tax.

  1. Switch on Charge tax.
  2. Enter the rate as a percentage.
  3. Set the label buyers see - GST, VAT, Sales tax, whatever applies to you.
  4. Save.

Tax is worked out at checkout and shown as its own line on the order, on the confirmation email and in your analytics.

Prices include tax changes the sum, not the wording. Leave it off and tax is added on top of your prices; turn it on when your prices already include tax and it is shown as a breakdown instead.

Staff and access

Settings, then Staff, lists everyone who can sign in to your store. Click Invite staff, enter their email address and pick a role:

  • Store Manager - products, orders, customers and the everyday store settings.
  • Admin - everything a Store Manager can do, plus staff and the settings that hold your money and your store's identity: payments, couriers, WhatsApp, marketing and domains. A Store Manager does not see those pages at all.

They get an emailed invitation and show as Pending until they accept it. Removing someone takes their access away immediately.

Only an Admin sees this page.
