Creating discount codes

Run promotions with discount codes — set the type, value, minimum spend and usage limits.

What discount codes do

Discount codes let you run promotions — a launch offer, a seasonal sale, a thank-you for loyal customers. A customer enters the code at checkout and the discount is applied to their order. They are a simple, controllable way to give a price break without changing your listed prices.

Create a code

In the Discounts area of your dashboard, create a new code. You choose:

  • The code itself — the text customers type at checkout, such as WELCOME10. Keep it short and easy to remember.
  • The type and value — a percentage off, or a fixed amount off in rupees.
  • A minimum order amount (optional) — require the order to reach a certain value before the discount applies, so you protect your margin on small baskets.
  • A usage limit (optional) — cap how many times the code can be used in total, so a promotion cannot run away with you.

How usage is tracked

Storecrafto keeps count of how many times each code has been used and enforces any limit you set, so once a code reaches its cap it stops working automatically. You can see usage against each code, which makes it easy to judge how a promotion is performing.

Ideas for using them

  • Welcome offer — a small percentage off a first order to convert new visitors.
  • Minimum-spend deal — a fixed amount off orders over a threshold, to lift average order value.
  • Limited promotion — a capped, time-boxed code to create urgency around a launch or event.

Practical tips

  • Make codes memorable and relevant to the campaign.
  • Use a minimum order amount to keep discounted orders worthwhile.
  • Set a usage limit on anything you share publicly, so it cannot be over-redeemed.
  • Watch the usage count to see which offers land, and retire codes you are no longer promoting.

Used deliberately, discount codes are one of the most reliable tools for driving a burst of sales — the key is to give them a clear purpose and a clear limit.
