Discount codes

A discount code gives a customer a price break when they type it in at checkout. Go to Discounts and click Create discount.

  1. Code - what the customer types, for example SUMMER20. It is always saved in capitals.
  2. Type - Percentage, Fixed amount, Free shipping, or Buy X get Y.
  3. Value - the percentage or the amount off. Free shipping and Buy X get Y need no value.
  4. Min order and Usage limit are optional: leave them empty for no minimum and unlimited uses.
  5. Starts at and Expires at set the window. First order only limits the code to brand-new customers.

For Buy X get Y, pick the product the customer must buy and how many of it, then the product they get a discount on and the percentage off that unit - 100% makes it free. Both products must be Active.

Your storefront AI assistant shares every code with shoppers who ask about offers, unless you switch Visible to shoppers off on that code. Switch it off for the private ones - an influencer code, a code you gave one customer - and the assistant will never mention it, while the code keeps working exactly as before for anyone who types it in at checkout.

Tip: switch a code off with the toggle in the list rather than deleting it, so a code you have already printed or posted keeps its history.

Cart incentives

Go to Settings, then Cart incentives, to reward shoppers for spending more. Each block works on its own, so switch on only the ones you want.

  • Free shipping - waives the delivery fee once the order passes an amount you set.
  • Free gift - adds one free unit of a product you choose once the order passes an amount you set.
  • Spend & save - an automatic discount at each spend level. It never stacks with a code: whichever is bigger applies. List the levels lowest first.
  • Checkout offer - a one-click extra shown on the payment step. It is not discounted and does not count towards the amounts above.
  • Welcome popup - asks a first-time visitor for their email, then reveals a code you choose.

Tip: a free-shipping threshold is the easiest way to lift your average order - shoppers can see how much more they need to add while they browse.

Where sign-up emails go

Three places on your storefront collect email addresses: the welcome popup, any newsletter block in your theme (usually in the footer), and the pre-launch page's sign-up box. All three feed one list.

Subscribers, in the main menu, is that list. It shows every address newest first, with the form it came from and the day it arrived - so if a new row appears after you test your own footer form, the capture is working.

  • Search by email to check whether one person is on the list.
  • Filter by source to see only welcome popup, only newsletter, or only pre-launch sign-ups.
  • Export CSV downloads the whole list as a spreadsheet file - every address, its source and its date, ignoring whatever search or filter you have on screen.
  • The bin icon removes a sign-up, for when someone asks to come off your list. It cannot be undone, though they are captured again if they ever sign up afresh.

The same address is only ever stored once, so someone who signs up twice does not appear twice, and the total will not move the second time.

Note: a sign-up is not a customer account. These people appear on this list only - not under Customers, which is for shoppers who created an account or placed an order.
